MEET THE ARTIST

BOB SHUPING
Woodcarver. Blacksmith. Storyteller.
Bob uses mediums of metal and wood. He also uses songwriting, musical performances, and  classical horseback riding for artistic expression.  From riding in the Lipizzan show to teaching in public school special education, Bob has learned that great things take time, determination, and flexibility. He brings this philosophy to his craftsmanship, carefully sculpting each stump to reveal its unique textures and colors which affect the final shape and look. Likewise, as the metal is worked, unique interactions between the hammer, fire, and steel influence the final form. Bob lives with his wife in the Shenandoah mountains, where he finds and sources much of his wood.  He hopes you enjoy his work as much as he enjoys making it.
